Adire is dyed by hand using traditional resist-dyeing techniques: parts of the cloth are protected before the dye bath, and that is what draws the pattern.
Because the gesture is human, so is the result. Slight variations in colour, pattern and texture are part of the process. They are not flaws: they are the signature of an authentic, handcrafted cloth — and the reason no two pieces are ever quite alike.
Adire asks for a little care in the first few washes, as excess dye may release. Wash the piece on its own to begin with, cold, and line dry it in the shade.
